Native Trees and Shrubs of Southern OregonOLD

This course will be a survey of 80-90 tree and shrub species, including important species native to Southern Oregon and Northern California plus a few common non-native species. We will also touch on several species from other areas that help to better understand the species in our area. We will learn to identify trees by leaves, flowers/cones, buds, general shape, habitat/community, eco-region, taxonomic family and genus/species. NOTE: This class will hold optional field trips (instead of in-class sessions) on weeks 4 and 5 of the course. Field trips will be from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. More information on these trips will be available from the instructor once the course starts. Optional Material: Audubon Society Guide to the Northwest. Class Size: 45
