OLLI Goes to Ashland Independent Film Festival

Cinema is first and foremost a step into an imaginary world, one that asks us to think, engage, reflect, and maybe even laugh or cry. In this course, OLLI members will view five films during the Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) shown on April 12, 13, and 14. Tickets for the five films previously selected from the hundreds offered are available for $50. (See note below for details.) The first class will include film-going logistics, distribution of tickets, and ways to enhance your festival-going experience. In the four sessions following the film weekend, class discussions will focus on each film’s message and its impact on you the viewer. Katherine Roselli, a well-known Ashland filmmaker, and Richard Herskowitz, AIFF director, will join and co-lead some of the discussion. For the final class, Monday, April 22, SOU Honors College students will join the class for an intergenerational discussion. NOTE: Tickets will be prepurchased by the instructor to ensure seats are available. Once you are enrolled in the course, the instructor will email instructions on how to submit your $50 payment for the five films.
